Community guidelines

This English text is a faithful translation provided for convenience. IKASpot is operated under French law, and the French version is the one drafted against it. Should the two texts differ on a point of interpretation, the French version prevails.
IKASpot rests on a simple idea: sharing the places you know. It only works if everyone plays fair. Here are the rules.
The essentials, in five points
- Only share places that can be shared. If a place belongs to someone, or if making it known risks spoiling it or disturbing the neighbours, keep it to yourself.
- Use your own photos. No images taken from elsewhere, and no recognisable people without their consent.
- Be honest. Describe what is really there, downsides included.
- Leave the place clean. A spot that fills up with litter disappears.
- Respect other members. You can disagree without being unpleasant.
What is not allowed
Private places and property
Do not publish a garden, a house, a residential courtyard or fenced land. Even if the place is lovely, even if you have access to it: the people who live there did not ask for this.
If a place is reachable but belongs to someone, say so by setting the access level to “Private property”.
Personal data
No home addresses, no names of private individuals, no number plates, no identifiable faces without consent.
A report for this reason removes the spot immediately, without waiting for further reports. That is deliberate: this kind of content must not stay online while a moderator becomes available.
Dangerous places
No unstable ruins, railway lines, quarries, roofs without safe access, or industrial sites. No spot is worth an accident.
Unlawful or offensive content
Nothing involving hate, harassment, pornography or violence, and nothing that encourages breaking the law.
Spam and misuse
No advertising, no thinly disguised promotion of a business, no invented spots to farm points. Fake spots are deleted and cost their author 100 points.
Substances, alcohol, tobacco
IKASpot lists places to settle down, not places to consume. The “Smoking OK” and “Alcohol tolerated” tags describe a state of affairs — much like a restaurant noting that it has a smoking terrace — and are neither permission nor encouragement.
Follow the law and local rules. Drinking alcohol in public places is regulated in many towns, and some natural areas are non-smoking. It is up to you to check.
Access to the site is restricted to people aged 18 and over.
Moderation
Any signed-in member can report a spot or a comment. Reports are anonymous: the author of the content is not told who reported it.
- Personal data or unlawful content: automatic removal on the first report.
- Other reasons: automatic removal at the third distinct report.
A moderator then reviews the content and restores it, deletes it, or applies a sanction. Every decision is written to the log.
Sanctions
- A warning for a first minor slip.
- Content deletion and 100 points removed.
- A temporary ban for repeat offences. The account can still read and report, but can no longer publish anything.
- A permanent ban for serious breaches.
Abusive reports
Reporting a spot because it competes with yours, or to harm its author, is abuse. Reports that are clearly unfounded and repeated carry the same sanctions as any other breach.
Challenging a decision
If content was removed by mistake, write to noreply@ikaspot.eu with the address of the spot concerned. A moderation decision can be reversed.
Changes to these guidelines
These guidelines may change. A substantive change produces a new version, which members will be asked to accept the next time they sign in.
