Terms of use

This English text is a faithful translation provided for convenience. IKASpot is operated under French law, and the French version is the one drafted against it. Should the two texts differ on a point of interpretation, the French version prevails.

1. Purpose

IKASpot is a free service for finding and sharing pleasant public places on a collaborative map. These terms govern its use. Creating an account means accepting them.

2. Access to the service

Browsing the map is open to everyone. Publishing content, voting and commenting require an account.

The service is restricted to people aged 18 and over. Creating an account requires confirming that you meet this condition.

3. Your account

  • An account is personal. It cannot be lent or sold.
  • You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for anything done from your account.
  • Usernames that impersonate a person or a brand, or that suggest an official role, are not allowed.
  • You can delete your account at any time from your settings.

4. Content you publish

You keep ownership of what you publish. By posting it on IKASpot, you grant a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display that content on the site, in internal search results and in sharing previews. This licence ends when the content is deleted.

By publishing, you confirm that:

  • you hold the rights to the photos and videos you upload;
  • no identifiable person appears in them without their consent;
  • the place can be shared without harming anyone.

5. Moderation

IKASpot may remove any content that breaches the guidelines or the law, and may suspend or delete an account in the event of a breach.

Content may be removed automatically when reported, before a human has looked at it. That measure is precautionary and reversible: its purpose is to limit how long potentially problematic content stays visible, not to punish.

6. Liability

The information published here comes from members. IKASpot does not check it beforehand and gives no guarantee as to its accuracy, nor as to whether the places described are accessible or safe.

Going to a spot is entirely at your own risk. It is up to you to check that access is permitted, that conditions are safe, and to comply with local rules.

IKASpot is provided “as is”, with no guarantee of continuous availability. The service may be interrupted for maintenance or change without notice.

7. Advertising

The site may display advertising to cover its running costs. Adverts are labelled as such. The details are set out on the cookies page.

8. Personal data

How your data is handled is described in the privacy policy.

9. Changes to these terms

These terms may change. Any substantial change will be announced on the site, and you may be asked to accept the new version.

10. Governing law
